White Salt Pig

Source: etsy.com via Enzie on Pinterest

This hand painted, glazed salt pig is made out of  a vintage 1965 Mexican piggy bank mold. A fun gift for a cook with a sense of humor. It is 7 inches long, 4 inches wide and a little over 5 inches tall including handle.

The interior is left unglazed as original salt pigs were meant to be. The unglazed interior of this salt pig helps to absorb moisture and prevent salt from clumping in steamy kitchens or humid climates. The large opening allows easy access to the salt while cooking, either use a spoon or reach in and grab a pinch. Unlike salt bowls or dishes this vessel keeps dust or other stuff from falling onto the salt.
